The True Crime Against the American People

I love this country and the people who built it, who live here, who fought for it, and what we stand for. What I have witnessed these last few years is alarming. This country is being split into two. Every day, I am blasted by the media and the internet that we are living in a war-torn third-world country. I am told every day to watch out; someone is going to attack me.

The cops that I wave to are going to pull me out of my car and shoot me. My neighbor is plotting against me because I don’t vote the way he does, or I don’t go to his church, or I don’t go at all. I hear about massive snowstorms coming, only to get an inch of fluffy snow. But if you go to the store, the shelves for bread, milk, and toilet paper are empty.

If I really listen to this noise, you will think that the world is ending in this country, every single town and city is burning, and protests are everywhere. Mayhem is the norm.

This morning, I woke up to birds singing and a friend called to share his exciting news. I heard no gunshots. I didn’t smell any building burning, and guess what, I had about an inch of snow, and I didn’t run out of bread or milk. I guess what I am trying to say is, why do I feel I am being attacked after watching anything that might be considered, I guess we could call it, news.

When I was sick with Crohn’s Colitis, I figured out that my illness was caused by my holding in my stress, so one of the things I did was stop watching the news. That was not the only thing I did, of course, but I did pull it off, and I have been symptom-free for over forty years now.

I've always been fascinated by propaganda and manipulation. We have a thing in the United States called free speech, not a rule about fake speech. We live in a world where I heard that a coach got released to fact-check it later; it was fake news, a blatant lie, so I would click on it.

Is this what it has come down to? Can’t you believe anything on the internet? You turn on the news, and some stations are running this story as important, while another news station doesn’t even acknowledge that it happened.

I am going to throw something out there for you. Stop watching all of it. The news on the internet, stop scrolling. Stop paying them with your click. Stop buying advertisers' products that support the media. When they ask, and they will, why are they losing money, we can tell them we want the news that is based on fact. Not their opinions or their bias.

I found that when I stopped watching the news, my stress went down, and I rationalized it as simply that. If it wasn't happening in my front yard, there wasn't much I could do about it. We are letting the media and the internet split this country.

The new propaganda is overloading the airways with so much information coming from both side the normal American is not being educated, they are being browbeaten and feeling attacked from all sides. If you don’t pick a side, you bury your head in the sand in confusion.

Trust me, the news cycle is fickle. One day, this is the biggest story in the world, only to be replaced by an officer saving some ducks by picking them out of a storm drain, or a better report on something that, without the whole story, fills in the blank with made-up facts just to say breaking news, or the first news cast to report the story

Our lives are being force-fed to us through a 4x6 screen, and we don’t know it. This is the true crime going on in America.

One man’s opinion.
