So, Who do You Believe?

As I alluded to in the last post, I had a health emergency. I want to share a bit more about the path I'm on. Well, I am recovering quite swimmingly. Made some changes in diet, sleep, and exercise. I am not out of the woods, but I see the light beyond the dense forest I was trying to navigate through a few weeks ago.

When I started a similar journey forty-something years ago, with my Crohn’s Colitis, it was a much different time. Research was not punching a few keys and presto, so much information that you couldn’t read it all in a month.

I had to work to learn. I read books, talked to people, and attended lectures. I made time and committed to the work to show up. Paying attention during lectures and highlighting in books to emphasize important information. Looking in the back of the book for the index to see who and what books were referenced, to see what I was going to read next. None of this came easy. I had to commit myself to the journey.

Doing this forty years ago was easier than it is today. Forty years ago, you would commit to a practice, a diet, or a supplement and give it a try. I worked with it to see if it made a difference. If it didn’t work, you adjusted and tried it a different way. But each book I read, each lecture I listen to, or each person I talk to. If I invested time in it, I kept narrowing down my cure.

However, in this day and age, I am seeing that you really cannot focus on one thing. Every key you press when filling in the search bar on your computer gives you millions of opinions, products, solutions, videos, and knowledge. Then you have to sort out fact from fiction, truth from conspiracy, and real from fake, and this all happens in a split second, the minute you press enter. How do I choose a direction to go? Way too much instant confusion. I want you to know that developing your own judgment is key to feeling confident in your choices.

But I truly understand why it's so tough nowadays; confusion is now done wholesale.

Everyone wants a piece of your mind. When I was learning my own cure for Crohn’s Colitis, I had time to absorb what I was taking in I gave it a fair try. Now, you wonder whom you can trust. When you are sick, you become afraid, you become scared, you are confused, and then you sit paralyzed, scrolling with no confidence in any knowledge or information.

From Modern Medicine to Ancient Healing Techniques. From herbs to diets and food. It seems that there is no wrong or right, there is just a ton of information, everyone screaming over each other, never getting to any universal truth. So, who do you believe?

"Everyone wants a piece of your mind." and it does affect one's peace of mind. Glad you are doing so well.
