Energy Conduit

Yesterday I was working with an accomplished energy healer. As her treatment concluded, I left the room as I always do to let the client rest and gather themselves. I came back into the room. I softly said How was that? She gently opened her eyes and said Great. In a soft voice, she asked, "What are you doing different?
I said What do you mean? She said, I floated away at points; soon, somehow, something would ground me back into my body. You disappeared completely from the session, like it was just me surrounded by energy, until it was over, when, all of a sudden, you were there again.
I answered quietly, I'm not sure what you mean. I said every session is and should be different. I went on to say that every treatment I give, I want it to be different. I want to experience more, not by adding more techniques, but by reducing my consciousness footprint and having no technique at all. I gave up on techniques and practices some time ago because they all come in a box. Through every practice I have learned and all the energy sessions I've done over many years of energy work, I realized that to get to the true energy work, I needed to separate myself, Bob, and allow the natural healer, the healing conduit inside of me, to take over.
My friend spoke up. Can you help me understand what you are saying? You use words and phrases like being an energy conduit, feeling the energy, and removing myself from the treatment. These are words I find hard to wrap my conscious mind around when you talk about energy healing.
Words are stones that build solid walls around concepts that cannot be confined into words; your mind needs to make sense of them. Practices and techniques are boxes that stifle the natural healing we all have inside of us. Over the many years of doing this work, I have experienced glimpses of this. I felt like I left the room while giving a treatment, until it became the way I experience and give energy treatments to my clients.
I often think about the ancient healers: if a child was told at an early age they had command of all energy. Not just healing energy but all the creative energy. Each man, woman, and child in any given tribe could vibrate as a group, as a tribe creates as a collective. If this practice of self-healing, healing others, and group healing were mainstream, what could this world be?
I read a story about a man back in the 1920s who witnessed Tibetan monks chanting and levitating a very large block of solid rock 200ft above their heads into the monastery wall, where it fit perfectly. This story was told from a father to his son on the father's deathbed. The father never spoke a word of it to anyone because he was afraid of being called crazy and being judged or worse.
We are weakened by the conscious mind. The words we believe to be true get in the way and stifle the pathways of being what I like to call an energy conduit. Our conscious minds have old, past files full of fear, suspicion, the need for validation, and, most of all, permission.
Do I believe that you need to learn a technique or practice to experience what energy healing feels like as a healer? Yes. Do you need to try different techniques? Yes. But as quickly as you adopt these practices, you also have to make them grow until you outgrow the practice itself.
I am going to share a story that happened to me. A friend came to me at work. He asked me to come into his office. This man was not like me. He was the total polar opposite of me and what I believed in. I went into his office, and he burst into tears. He explained to me that his grandson was born this weekend and had physical and mental disabilities. After the birth, he was handed his grandson to hold. He told me that after a few moments, he became overwhelmed and started crying, and his hands got really hot. As he kept holding him, his hands radiated heat and tingled. After he handed him back, his hands stayed hot, and his emotions were out there for everyone to see.
That's where I came in. He explained to me that he had heard me over the years talking about healing work and Reiki, and how he thought it was hogwash and he didn't believe any of it. Then he asked, "How do you shut them off and get back to where he once felt safe?" I explained that it was a gift, only to have him repeat, "How do I shut it off and never want to feel it again?" I told him he will never feel the same as he once did because he experienced
it that one time. That memory will stick with him the rest of his life. But will his hands shut off? Will he get back to being a close remnant of himself? I said most likely.
So, to my friend, I answer you like this. An energy conduit is your true self, free from the influence of your conscious mind. Our conscious mind leads us on a path of doubt, fear, and the need for validation or permission. Recognizing this distinction helps you connect more deeply with your innate power, making your energy work more authentic and effective.
We are all energy conduits, and, like our ancestors, all we need to do is separate ourselves and know the difference between our true selves and the man-made conscious mind. This understanding can help you feel more connected to your innate power and purpose.
